The myth about this word is that this is related with females only. But friends the fact is both males as well as females have emotions. Mood swings are related to emotional ups and downs which may affect behavior and thus it relates to both the genders. Mostly it is seen in females because of hormones changes, pregnancy, puberty, menopause etc. People say it happens due to depression but I believe that it is a symptom of depression. Its duration may be few hours or days or even a week.



If five or more of the below given symptoms are satisfied, you may have mood swing issues and you can treat it as according to the solutions stated in later part of this article:

  • Insomnia or hypersomnia,
  • Reduced or increased appetite,
  • Feeling of self hatred worthlessness or thoughts of suicide,
  • More talkative,
  • Anxiety, anger, confusion, boredom, fatigue, irritation;
  • Inappropriate behavior,
  • Severe cough,
  • Poor judgment or memory loss,
  • Missed menstrual cycle.



  • Changes in energy level,
  • Irregular sleep pattern,
  • Excessive consumption of drug/alcohol,
  • Hormonal imbalance,
  • Medicinal side-effects,
  • Unhealthy diet,
  • Need for sex,
  • Change in sugar level,
  • Head injury,
  • Menopause, pregnancy or puberty;



  • Regular jogging and exercise,
  • Get engaged in your hobby like reading, listening music, gardening, watching TV etc,
  • Get enough sleep and make a routine schedule,
  • Do meditate regularly,
  • Limit alcohol consumption,
  • Balanced diet,
  • Drink plenty of water,
  • Consult your physician if it gets severe.
